The Double Standards Dictionary


Men and women have often been typecast into brittle molds of gender, rather than that of humankind. Their actions and reactions conditioned into boxes that are almost impossible to break through. Definitions change with sexism. There is a subtle brainwash that pervades the world, prevalent in some cultures, more than in others. With no offence meant, here goes…

A man who has many sexual partners.

Man: Stud

A woman who has many sexual partners

Woman: Slut

A woman who marries a much older, wealthier man.

Woman: Gold digger

A wealthy man who marries a much younger woman.

Man: Successful Stud

A woman who is attractive but perceived as unintelligent.

Woman: Bimbo

A man who is athletic but perceived as unintelligent.

Man: Jock

A woman who has mood swings and expresses frustration.

Woman: PMSing (Pre Menstrual Syndrome) or Menopausal

A man who has mood swings and expresses frustration.

Man: Work pressured

A woman who has a young lover.

Woman: Cougar

A man who has an older lover.

Man: Toy boy

A woman who constantly tells her partner to do something.

Woman: Nagging

A man who constantly tells his partner to do something.

Man: Advising

A married woman prefix.

Woman: Mrs

A married man prefix.

Man: Mr ( unchanged)

A woman who asserts herself.

Woman: Aggressive

A man who asserts himself.

Man: Decisive

A woman in power.

Woman: Ballbuster

A man in power.

Man: Leader

A woman who cusses freely.

Woman: Unladylike

A man who cusses freely.

Man: One of the boys

Let’s throw the book at double standards! We have nothing to lose but our sexism.
